Kathy Starr, Vice President, Sales With more than 20 years of experience, Kathy brings expertise in spearheading sales and marketing for hotels of all types, brands and sizes ranging from historical hotels such as New York City’s famed Algonquin Hotel to large hotels such as the Westin Atlanta Airport to a variety of select service hotels. Kathy also has extensive experience handling property level teams, ranging from managing property level, area and regional directors to overseeing national directors selling more than 730 hotels nationwide.
As Vice President of Sales, Kathy is responsible for top line revenue which includes both rooms and catering/banquets. This requires not only leading the property level sales team but also working with all disciplines associated with the brand assigned to hotels, independent public relation companies, revenue management as well as assigned Vice Presidents of Operations. Her portfolio of hotels includes large independent properties, full service and select service branded hotels.
Prior to joining Crescent Hotels and Resorts, Kathy held numerous leadership positions working across an array of properties. As Corporate Director of National Sales for LaQuinta Management, LLC she created a Northeast presence for the hotel chain and then set and beat aggressive revenue goals. She was quickly promoted and led the entire Eastern National Sales team as they worked with large Fortune 500 companies selling over 730 hotels. As Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Merritt Hospitality, Kathy exceeded RPA (Revenue Projection Analysis) while working with multiple full service brands and Independent hotels with a portfolio revenue expectation of $140 million. The products included: Westin, Sheraton, Marriott, Embassy Suites, Holiday Inn, Intercontinental, Radisson and Independent hotels. In addition, as Vice President of Sales for Interstate Hotels & Resorts, managed approximately $150 million combined portfolio of (11) hotels and (27) inns representing high end properties such as: Westin, Sheraton, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Renaissance, Embassy Suites and Radisson to select service such as Courtyards, Residence Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn, Four Points by Sheraton and Homewood Suites. Kathy also held leadership positions with MeriStar Hotels and Resorts, LinChris Hotel Corporation and CapStar Hotels.
Kathy holds a B.S. in Business Management from Merrimack College. Her professional affiliations include Tri-State Holiday Inn Co-op President. National Tour Association, NBTA, Pow-Wow, North of Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau, and ASTA.
